Bout of Books Read-a-thon Sign up

Big renouncement .... Am entering Bout of Books Read-a-thon boutofbooks.blogspot.com/ this year. Not only is it my first year entering but its also my first ever! So some very exciting things to come YAY

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 7.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

I cant wait for it to start am already in serious training for it...queue the theme from Rocky :P

Hopefully I have followed the sign up correctly since now am getting first blogging/read-a-ton nerves, as I am not aware of a current term for this I shall be calling it COLD PAGES from here on!

Time Devoted to Reading

I will be reading ALL WEEK!! which is just too exciting. I am waiting to get confirmation on when I get to start my new job (which is also very exciting) so if I have work during the week my reading will have to fit around it.

My Goals

  1. To really get stuck in and enjoy my first Book-a-thon
  2. Join in as many twitter chats at I can
  3. Get tasty snacks so I am not jealous of others snacks
  4. Try and add to my normal page count
  5. Try to vary some of my reading
  6. Find other devoted readers

Books to Read

Most likely The Sookie Stackhouse novels though will update nearer the time, when I have my book pile better assembled. Will also be listening to audio books so will also have to update as to which book am listening to at the time.

Any advice or snack recommendations please comment :)

  3. At this rate I am never going to get that theme tune out of my head!

Thanks for the luck :) Less nervous now more excited, I got no idea truly what is going to happen, though its going to give me an excuse to read books I may have bought a while ago (ok last march shhhhhh) and have past over in favour of reading something else.

  4. YAY BOUT OF BOOOOOOKS! Hope you're... I dunno... liftin' weights, and practisin' your snacking skills... You're going to need them! :P

Tiny hint: Loads more people will comment during the read-a-thon if you turn off your comment moderation thingy (it's automatically enabled when you start the blog). If you go to your blogger Dashboard, then go down the menu to Settings and onto Posts and Comments, you can turn it off so that people don't have to do that 'type in these two words' thing to post. :)

  5. I am always practicing my snacking skills...pick up, lift to face, chew, swallow. Repeat. Always repeat! :P and mentally I dunno I could read a dictionary, work on speed reading by timing my reading, stare at books?

Your basically my guide to the blogosphere, I had no clue it was on or was an option, thank you :)

  6. A bit belated but welcome to blogging! :) You've picked a great way to start - Bout of Books is so much fun! Everybody is super friendly and it's really relaxed. I've never braved one of the Twitter chats so I think that this might be the time that I try that out. I usually only get time to do a couple of the challenge-post-type things because I'm fitting in reading around work so it's all about balance for me, really.

The Sookie Stackhouse series is great - I pretty much chain-read the first 10 or so in a huge binge, I think. Such good read-a-thon books!

    Good luck! :)

    1. Thank you very much for the welcome! I really am getting the feeling this Bout of books is a great event, everyone seems so lovely already, and we haven't even started.
Will hopefully see you around chats and challenges then, shame you can't join I'm more, but I suppose we all have to join the real world occasionally.
Thanks again for the warm welcome and good luck also with trying to balance your readathon :)
